Zhixiong (Kevin) Sun

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Zhixiong (Kevin) Sun got his Master's degree in Microbiology from Nankai University in China and his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech where he studied epigenetic dynamics during mammalian brain development, and also developed great interest in neuroscience and the study of brain diseases. In Gogos’ lab, he will explore mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of Schizophrenia (SCZ) at molecular, cellular and circuit levels. Currently, his work focuses on investigating the role of SETD1A in SCZ, hoping this study could provide new insights into epigenetic mechanisms involved in psychiatric disorders, and also the development of targeted treatments and therapeutics. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, playing table tennis (Ping Pong) and cooking
